Two Creamers

I like to use the same compositions and see how my painting applications have changed over the years- this time it's on paper instead of board.

Wet-in-wet floral

One of the many bonuses of teaching is that you can get inspired from the lessons that you teach and even set you off in another direction. This one is big for me- 4x6 inches!

Wet in Wet Demo on YouTube

Here's the link to a video of wet in wet painting.
It's hard for me to talk and paint at the same time, but hopefully I will get better at it!

Graded wash demo

One of my students filmed this in class yesterday. I was showing them how to use a graded wash on a hollow cylinder. I use a two-brush technique sometimes- the second brush has clear water. Saves some time in trying to get the pigment out of brush. Be sure to use good paper! Makes all the difference!

Brooklyn Museum

When I was living in the city, I visited the Brooklyn Museum once in awhile- especially in the spring cause it's right next to The Brooklyn Botanical Gardens- not to say that they don't have exhibits worthy of the trip by itself! Anyway, bought this vase in their gift shop and really love painting it.

Comments

I'm so sorry I haven't gotten back to all of you who have commented in the last month- I don't know if something happened that I'm not getting notifications or if they were delayed. In any case, it's so good to know they're there and you're there!!
Since I moved back to Woodstock, NY, I've been exhibiting more (just more opportunity in this art-loving community!). I'm on the board of the Woodstock Artists Association and Museum so have been busy with a deadline for a grant. and also excited to have students at my home classes. They are absolute beginners- Don't know how I got off on this tangent, but there it is!!

Show in New Paltz, NY

Here are some of the paintings that were in a show at Mark Gruber Gallery in New Paltz, NY. Lots of neighbors, students, family and art friends turned up for the opening. I especially liked showing my granddaughter's how their nana's paintings look outside the studio! Always fun and encouraging to show work!

Lemon Slice and White Flowers

I may have posted this a long time ago, but I'm doing it again because I added a few highlights that seems to have made a big difference in the finishing of the painting. Just reminds me that sometimes it can take years to do a painting even if it's small!
I've also put some paintings for sale on my website, so you might want to check it out if you have time!

Reworking

I usually don't back and rework paintings, but this is just what I have been doing since the new year. I'm not saying it's a negative way to paint. I'm glad to be able to see how to improve the work. Guess at different times in one's life, different approaches work.
