Brooklyn Vase

Got this vase at The Brooklyn Museum gift shop about fifteen years ago and have enjoyed painting it ever since. This is the first time it is appearing alone!

Woodstock Landscape

I've been inspired to do some landscapes locally. I move things around a lot and make up my own colors; but hey, that's what we do, right? My backyard faces the woods. We have lots of deer but hopefully not too many ticks.  This was done with yellow/purple palette.

Bowl of Cherries

I wanted to see how dark I could get the cherries and contrast it with keeping the background and the bowl light. I've been reluctant (afraid?) to use staining colors but forged ahead and found I could lift the color when I needed to!

A Few More Darks

Aside from starting another grape painting I decided to put in more darks. I looked at one of my favorite painters (both in watercolor and oil) and put in some small shapes in the grapes, flower and right side of the mug. Accents are so important. I'm learning how to keep them transparent and still be dark. It's a matter of the water. Just need the right amount. Not too much or too little. So, same info for purchase as in preceeding post.
