White Flowers in Watercolor

This was actually the first of the series (will post another one tomorrow). It's the cool version.

John Singer Sargent

Had a choice between going to see the Sargent show at The Brooklyn Museum and staying home and painting. Since I can go over the weekend, opted to stay home.  Sometimes I think it's better to stay in your own zone than enter into someone else's.

Inspiration from an older Painting

Do you ever find inspiration in your older work? Not only that, but I find it's a continuation of your process. When I've been away from painting or I've gotten off on a tangent, it can be interesting to look at older work to be inspired. The top one is older piece. There are different things I like about each one. Anyway, I'm painting and it's fun!

Steps for Daisies

Here are the steps for the painting I did in '08.  I used these in my book with more details. (Aha, a plug for the book!)

It's aways interesting to go back and do the same set-up again. You are able to see how your painting has changed. This was the same as a painting done in '08. I'm off to jury duty, so don't have time to look for it right now. I'll post it tomorrow!

White Flowers

I tried different papers and different applications before I got back to myself.  I actually thought it was the paper that was the problem. I even went out and bought different sheets of paper so I could paint. Once I spent a couple of days making some awful paintings, I was able to find myself. I'm just glad to be back to painting!

Grandma's Cup

Love painting antique cups and dishes; especially if they were passed down. Only have a few, so I just cherish the ones I have!
I've got jury duty next week, but had a few days of good painting (took awhile to find myself again since its been a long time since I painted) so I will have things to post for a few days. It did feel like it was going to take forever to get my mojo working, but it finally kicked in. Made quite a few bad paintings that I couldn't stand to look at, but hey, we all do that.

IBook vs PDF

Wanted to clarify the difference between an iBook and the PDF file.

If you order the iBook, you will need an Ipad to read it. If you do not have an iPad, then you need to order the PDF from me, not Apple. I made the PDFs so that people who don't have iPads can read the book on their computers. Doesn't need to be an Apple computer. In order to view the movies, I set them up on YouTube. But this means you need a gmail account which is free and easy to get by going to Google and signing up.
I have misplaced the email from someone who did this. I would like to send you the PDF (free). Please send me that message again and I will set this up for you. Sorry I didn't get your message sooner, but had a family emergency and have been out of town.

I recently wrote an artbyte for Carol Marine about how I handle times when I don't feel like painting. Here is another thing I do: switch mediums! BTW, does anyone know of any pastels that don't leave any dust behind??
