Not quite looking like this yet but always inspired when the snow comes!

Both done on hot pressed paper. And both on view at The Woodstock Artists Association and Museum!

Ashokan Reservoir Watercolors

Maybe all the rainy, cloudy days are influencing my palette! Still having fun exploring these small landscapes with the addition of white gouache.

Ashokan Reservoir watercolors

Here is a link to an article on the Ashokan Reservoir:  http://www.nyc.gov/html/dep/html/watershed_protection/ashokan.shtml

I live just a few miles from it and go for walks quite often. It's about 12 miles long and about a mile wide. Best time is at sunset as you probably see from my posts!

These are about 3x3 inches and $125 unframed plus shipping (outside the U.S.)

Ashokan Reservoir watercolors

Leena asked me how I frame these small paintings- there's a pic on my website joycewashor.wordpres.com of me in front of paintings. Also, I cut the paper before I paint but I often crop them with a mat before framing. I'll have to take a pic of new white frame and post it!
Thanks Leena for the questions!

Ashokan Reservoir watercolors

One of the first paintings that my husband and I bought (over 25 years ago) was of the Ashokan Reservoir- not a watercolor, an oil by Barbara Boyd. These are reminiscent of that painting. Inspiration can come from your own collection!

Ashokan Reservoir watercolors

Two very different color feelings. We lost power yesterday because of storm - but thankful it didn't last too long. Life is yin/yang!
Both watercolors are 3x3 inches.

Here's a link to see more of my new book and read about small paintings.
I was actually just reading my FB feed and thought this an interesting article. Then it mentions
Think Big!

Ashokan Reservoir watercolors

The Ashokan Reservoir is the main source of water for NYC. It's only a few miles from my house! Love to go there for its beauty and a chance for a walk. It's about 12 miles long and a mile at its widest so plenty of spots for pics!
