I am starting classes in my home!! As of now there are three people in the class. It will be on Mondays at 1:30 eastern time. We are starting off with drawing basics. We will cover how to measure, how to draw ellipses and how to use perspective. We will then move onto either oil or watercolor depending on a majority vote. The class will be open to a few additional students via Skype. I've never done this so not sure if I will be able to see skypers drawings well enough to make comments right on the spot but maybe you can scan or photograph your drawings/paintings and email them to me for comments. Students will also be welcome to just watch and learn without having to submit any works. If any one is interested please shoot me an email and we can discuss this further. It's back to school!!

Tinted Underpainting
I've been playing around with using a wash for an underpainting like oil painters do on their white canvases. I think it gives the painting extra warmth. There are no absolute whites except for a dash of chinese white on the upper right of the bowl. Needed to have it overlap onto the glass.

Woodstock Landscape
I've been inspired to do some landscapes locally. I move things around a lot and make up my own colors; but hey, that's what we do, right? My backyard faces the woods. We have lots of deer but hopefully not too many ticks. This was done with yellow/purple palette.

Sun-Kissed Onion
This was done outdoors on my deck; sun was just before noon and very high in the sky since it was the summer solstice. As I look at it now, I realize it's the colors of my new kitchen. I've been dreaming about bright greens! When we bought the house, the kitchen had a bright green walls. Since I usually don't use intense colors as a major area in my paintings or inside on walls, I've been struggling to decide whether to make walls less intense. I'll give myself time to live with it in order to figure it out!
I used the new primary palette and the painting is once again 4x3 inches.

6x6 inches!
Every once in awhile I try a "larger" painting just to see how it feels. It was ok. For me it's not as much fun as painting 3x4 inches. Go figure!
And this is my first peony from my new garden in Woodstock, NY. I'm so loving living here! Not getting too much painting done because a lot of energy is going into setting up new house and figuring out new kitchen! I used my new non-toxic oils also! Loving them!

We are now living in Woodstock, NY (again) and I'm loving every minute of it! I've got a whole room for my studio with two big windows. The north/east light is coming out of window by my drafting table. Hope to start painting again next week! Yippee!
Also, will be uploading new book to iTunes shortly!! It's on Non-Toxic Oil Painting, if I haven't mentioned that! See you soon with new paintings!!
