I'm feeling more comfortable with the paint and the shapes. Hopefully the next one will continue this path! "Landscape 1154", watercolor on board, 4x3 inches
Ohhh you are making me want to get my watercolors out again! Just lovely. Have you ever tried Daniel Smith watercolors? Or any of their paints for that matter. I found that their colors are so much more vibrant than any others on the market. They have some small color sets for pretty good prices if you want to try them out. Also if you call and talk with one of their sales people, they may be able to make a sampler packet for you. They are great to work with. I highly recommend you try their paints. You will love them. www.danielsmith.com
Yes Sharlette I have a few of their colors and just got a 66 try it color sheet. Having fun with them. Thanks for info about them making a sampler packet.
Hi, I want to congratulate you for the extraordinary work of watercolor that I have seen on this blog of yours, I love you work with subtlety and softness, really are fabulous, a greeting.
I have been using a small format of 3x4 inches since 1997 as a result of a rotator cuff injury. As it's turned out it's a case of turning lemons into lemonade! I love this small scale in still life, portraiture and landscape.
Gary Hiscotts from Wales said, "I have devoured every word of your book may times over Christmas and have even started painting 'tiny'. Like you I have been used to large canvases and all the challenges that come with that but I am hoping to add miniatures to my repertoire. Already I am aware of the need to really sort out the values, composition and colour more than when painting 'big'." And Niall O'Neil added, " I thought it a masterly exposition on the basics of painting - not just small pictures, not just oils - there are general principles that may bw universally employed to any medium and dimension."
