Brooklyn Museum Vase and Orange Slice

I used my orange/blue watercolor palette substituting French Ultramarine Blue for Cobalt just to see how I liked the colors. I was wondering if FUB would be more transparent than Cobalt. Anyone have any thoughts about that?

I find FUB to be much more transparent than cobalt - I use mostly Daniel Smith, and although I love Cobalt I have more success with FUB or Indanthrone Blue when I need transparency!
Gorgeous piece. Rich, calm, simple.
BTW I followed you here from the watercolor critique you did on the American Artist website.

This is a beauty. All that a W/C should be.
I find FUB to be the more transparent, myself.

Joyce, I love your watercolors! So loose and painterly!

if you can control FUB then nothing like it! otherwise cobal is much safer colour to use.

The first thing I thought when I saw this post was "LUMINOUS blue!". I think cobalt is a little more opaque. This is just gorgeous, Joyce!
